All I can say is wow – because I am both stunned by the beauty of this collection and so sick with the flu that I’m too tired to wax lyrical. Not that it matters, the clothes speak for themselves…

mary katrantzou: aw12 london fashion week
Yesterday, I posted our pothole garden tribute to the Mary Katrantzou for TopShop capsule collection. Today, however, it’s all about Mary’s AW12 ready-t0-wear runway show.
Unfortunately, I didn’t make it on the day (flu, argh). Oh well. Here are my favourites via FGR. It’s every look from the runway apart from the floaty dresses. They’re beautiful, but I prefer a structured silhouette. The colours in her latest set of digital prints are brilliant too – I love how they’re still vibrant yet slightly muted to suit the cooler months. So clever.
karlie kloss + constance jablonski play snap in dolce and gabbana
While Gucci dominated the Autumn covers, it looks as though Dolce & Gabbana is set to win the prize for Spring if these March 12 issues are anything to go by. Here we have Karlie Kloss for Vogue Korea and Constance Jablonski for Harper’s Bazaar Russia donning the same printed twin set. The poses and styling are so similar that I can’t decide which one I like better, though it is refreshing to see models instead of celebrities on the covers of magazines

pancake day: savoury seafood and fennel pancakes with a mustard sauce
Yesterday, it was the classic sweet variety, while today, as promised, I’ve attempted something savoury. My inspiration was this Epicurious recipe, though I’ve made a few changes. I’ve used mixed seafood instead of scallops (because my local supermarket didn’t have any of the latter). I’ve also substituted the cream in the sauce for yesterday’s leftover creme fraiche and I’ve omitted the saffron (I would’ve forked out for some if I thought it would make any difference against the big flavours) and the fennel seeds because it’s not too some of my guests’ taste. I went easy on the salt too. To make these, you’ll also need a mixing bowl, frying pan and spatula.

Well, that’s for it for me on the fancy food front. For Lent this year, I’m kicking my health in the butt. That means no alcohol, processed sugar, dairy and wheat for at least 40 days. I’ll let you know how I get on… Wish me luck!

fashion + pothole gardening = mary katrantzou in miniature
I’m always looking to find ways of working with my friend The Pothole Gardener. And since it’s London Fashion Week coupled with the fact that Mary Katrantzou, one of my favourite designer‘s has just sold out her third capsule collection for TopShop, I thought we could use her as inspiration.
I love-love-love her floral digital prints – though I’m gutted that I wasn’t quick enough to pick up one of these dresses for myself. These little paper cut-outs are going to have to do. And anyway, they’re perfect for playing paper dolls. Does anyone else remember those?
pancakes: the classic

Tomorrow is Shrove Tuesday. And since pancakes are one of my favourite things to eat, I thought I’d whip up a batch for a post. Usually I make up my own recipe (adding the ingredients until I get the desired consistency), but since I wanted to be quick and impressive, I resorted to the BBC. I opted for something classic with a twist – so I’ve made traditional pancakes and topped with castor sugar, lime and creme fraiche. Who knows, tomorrow I might really push the boat out.
Today, I doubled the recipe, but didn’t have enough eggs (three instead of four) and was almost out of milk, so added more water, but everything turned out A-OK. You’ll also need a mixing bowl, frying pan and spatula (though if you add enough butter to your pan you can flip them with a bit of elbow grease and luck).

charlie may: aw12
Last night, friend and designer Charlie May presented her AW12 collection to much acclaim. The pieces were exquisitely tailored and breathtakingly simple (though it’s the kind of simple that looks like you could do it yourself until you try and ultimately fail). And there in lies her genius.
Charlie’s colour palette – predominantly black, white, and a delicious burgundy red – is too die for. I didn’t get to take any pictures – well, anything good enough to publish – but I will track down some to share. For now, here’s the A Question of Belief campaign video. Enjoy.
Hey, Clickster, here’s Charlie May.

dazed & confused + frida aasen = monkey business
Well. This looks like fun. Or not. Depends on how your feel about monkeys.

Oh, and here’s the film.
There are three other covers for March 2012, though they don’t have any animals. More’s the pity. There are lots of flowers and a spooky ghost face, though.
Check them out after the jump. Continue reading
second chance vintage: a turkish delight
Things have been getting a little risqué on the blog this week. First we had the Ren Skincare extravaganza, and now it’s these brilliant print ads created by Turkish advertising agency TBWA for Second Chance Vintage Boutique.
