Hello, I’m Kate – a writer and photographer in possession of a restless soul, unquenchable curiosity and a mammoth desire to over share. Thank goodness for blogging.
I was born in Sydney, Australia, but have lived all over the world, including years spent in Japan, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Cameroon, Dubai and India. These days I split my time between my central London flat (where I live with my extraordinarily patient husband and Goose the cat) and rural France (where we stain our hands with cherries picked from the garden in summer and forage in pine forests for mushrooms in the cooler months).
I love adventure, which has landed me in a few scrapes (plane crashes, gunfire, phoney arrests in corrupt West African nations), but the good stuff far outweighs the less than salubrious. Any opportunity to experience new places and new faces will have me packing a suitcase, or all my worldly belongings, at a moment’s notice. I’m nearing 100 on the number of countries I’ve visited – almost halfway around the world.
I’m a feeder too. I particularly love baking (it’s in the blood) and Italian food (it feels like it’s in the blood), but I’ll try anything once. Live baby octopus? Check.
When I’m not gallivanting or hanging out in the kitchen, I’m usually making or admiring something I’d like to make. I love to knit (mostly inventing my own patterns). Reading, collecting and decorating are also high on my list of fun ways to spend my time.
So, what can you expect on i am not a celebrity? A mish-mash of all of the above, naturally. Memories, experiences, recipes, how-tos and photographs aplenty. I hope you like my posts as much as I enjoy putting them together.
I love email too. You can always catch me on firstname.lastname@example.org.
