Besides the colours and the clothes, there are so many reasons to love Autumn. The sense of buckling down and doing proper work – it’s a season of creative profligacy, channeling summer’s inspiration into something more concrete. And this year, I’m going to miss out. Warm days linger on my horizon – a couple of weeks in Italy before an extended to trip to Australia. You’ll find no complaints here.
Right now, I’m high in the Tuscan hills where the weather is cooling by the day and the trees are beginning their annual shed. Still, the morning mists give way to bright blue skies and sun drenched days. A gelato a day keeps the heat at bay. We’re talking necessities, not luxuries.
Speaking of ice cream, I hope you like these pictures by the wonderful Rona from Flowerona. I paired up with her last month to create a summery scene at Another Country – a beautiful purveyor of design-led and ecologically minded furniture and homeward based in London’s Marylebone. I don’t know much about flowers (apart from the fact that I really really really really like them), so it was fantastic to work with Rona.
For the styling, I was inspired by those pretty Kinfolk flower cones as they seemed to match my foodie bent with Rona’s floral expertise. With this idea in mind, we hit the shops. Rona introduced me to Jane Packer where she picked up hydrangeas and other pretty blooms that I can’t remember the names of (whooooops). The food came from an assortment of shops, including Rococo Chocolates and The Natural Kitchen. Can I hear you say pomegranate?
Wishing you a lovely day. Kx
