I don’t know about you, but I get street style blindness. I suffer so acutely from seeing the same people photographed from different angles by different bloggers that I’ve scaled back the number of websites I follow.
Yes, multiple Peony Lims, Susie Bubbles and Caroline Issas still slip through the net, but every so often there’s a snap that stops me in my tracks, making the former quadruple-ups worth ploughing through.
One such picture is Scott ‘The Sartorialist’ Schuman’s post yesterday. This woman is beautiful, but that’s not the only reason I wanted to share it too.

Her expression and intense stare reminded me so much of this classic National Geographic cover.

The former was recently shot in Milan, while the latter was taken by photographer Steve McCurry in Afganistan 27 years ago. I remember this cover when it came out and I had a postcard of the picture on my bedroom wall while I was living in Japan, but I haven’t thought about it for a long time. Triggers are a funny thing.
