If there’s one song that was played on repeat in my late 90s personal soundtrack, it was Bic Runga‘s Sway. The singer, who hails from New Zealand, had me enraptured with her soft lyrics and quiet melodies. Everything about the song and the album Drive slotted into my life perfectly back then.
So, I’m finding it a bit strange that I haven’t thought of her much or listened to her music since the turn of the century. Time and tastes move on, I guess. It was, however, wonderful to discover these recent photos of Bic by acclaimed 20-year old Australian photographer Nirrimi Firebrace. Even it was only to remember a life that once was.
