Whenever I allow myself to think about Alexander McQueen, I end up drowning under a wave of melancholy. Since the beginning, his work had an emotional resonance that struck me deeply. I wasn’t far when he took his life. Just a few streets away. I never met him, but it pains me to think that he was in such a dark, no-going-back place while I was probably vacuuming or doing something equally as prosaic. Still, it’s a blessing that, under the amazing Sarah Burton, his legacy lives on.
