A Campbell's 'souper' paper dress printed with Andy Warhol design.
I’ve been meaning to visit Kerry Taylor and her auction house – famous for its stellar fashion finds – for a while, but this morning was my first opportunity. From the moment I stepped into the gallery space on Pall Mall, I entered an eclectic realm of fashion glories – from the very recent, yet poignant past, such as the Disaya print dress Amy Winehouse wore for the cover of Back to Black and two gorgeous Alexander McQueen gowns, to the mid 1700s, including a red frock coat worn by a Scottish nobleman.
The star pieces, in addition to Amy’s dress (from which all proceeds will go to the Amy Winehouse foundation), include replicas of Princess Diana‘s and Sarah Ferguson‘s wedding gowns, an assymetric gold Balenciaga sheath worn by Elizabeth Taylor for an evening on the town with Richard Burton, and the dress Audrey Hepburn wore both in the film Roman Holiday and later to the Oscars (when she won the best actress award).

While these pieces are undeniably beautiful, there is a bounty of other riches to catch your eye. Below are just a few of my favourites.

Two Alexander McQueen gowns from 2007 (the 'In memory of Elizabeth Howe, Salem 1692' collection) and a circa 1930s Mariano Fortuny masterpiece that reminds me a little of Felicity Brown.

Rhinestones adorn a Theirry Mugler collar.

These silver links entirely cover this Paco Rabane gown.

Elsa Schiaparelli's 'Persian Prince' evening coat circa 1937.
I want to buy them all and turn the front room into my own version of the V&A. Which one is your favourite? Let me know by leaving a message below.
