Last night I had a moment where time stood still and everything was right with the world. It was at Coach on New Bond Street and Emily Johnston was standing ten-feet tall (well, that’s what it felt like when I leaned up to give her a big snog) surrounded by friends and blogging colleagues to celebrate the launch of the limited edition tote she designed with one of my favourite American accessories brands.
If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you’ll know that I’m more than a smidge smitten with Em. It’s a commonly held belief that the world of fashion is full to the brim with prima donnas, tantrum throwers and backstabbers, but while that’s true of some, Emily smashes the stereotype with the singular power of a catchy URL. Knowing Emily, and following her tireless work on Fashion Foie Gras, serves as a constant reminder that those who act with grace, work hard and are dedicated are the ones that truly shine. And my how she glowed last night.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t stay for long (MyDaily presents an evening with Mary Katrantzou beckoned…), but I did manage to get a good look at the tote. And, all I can say is that I want one. It’s well crafted and roomy and has easy-to-access compartments for your camera and flats. In short (or should I say tall?), it’s perfect for bloggers. Funny that.
