With the sun shining and the bulbs sprouting in London, I feel like it’s safe to cast my mind back to those last few heady days I spent in Sydney in January – before now it’s been too grey and depressing.
One Saturday in particular comes to mind. My sister, Jen, and I caught the Manly Ferry and headed up to Paddington to mooch around the markets and to check out the new shops on Oxford Street (well, new to me, anyway…).
It was a feast for my homesick eyes. We each scored a pair of Sass & Bide jeans from the sale section of their flagship store. And we popped into Aussie label du jour Romance was born to be assaulted with colour. It was in High tea with Mrs Woo, though, that we really got excited.
It’s rare that I walk into a shop and fall in lust with everything on offer. Created by Rowena, Juliana and Angela Foong, three sisters from Newcastle (the New South Wales kind, not the Geordie sort), High tea with Mrs Woo boasts a carefully-edited, beautiful collection of homeware, trinkets, gifts, books and clothing.
Unfortunately, I didn’t take my proper camera out with me on the day (I’m still giving myself the occasional wrist slap for this oversight), but hopefully these pictures will do it justice. Otherwise, you can always visit the website, or if you’re in Sydney, you can pop in.
